I love fitness apps and I love free.

Below are 3 apps I love and highly recommend!

My Fitness Pal

IMG_0276This is my favorite weight-loss app. Tracking calories aren’t for everyone but it works really well for me. I have tried many diets (Weight Watchers and South Beach Diet to name a few) and calorie counting has always worked the best for me. I am not trying to be a body builder, I am just trying to be a healthy fit mom. My Fitness Pal gives me a suggested calorie count to reach my goals, and has a huge food database making it easy to list foods.

This is an awesome fitness app. It has tons of workouts you can do anywhere. You can find workouts based on level, time, and equipment needed. I workout at home a lot and this is a great option to get your heart pumping!

Map My Run

I don’t run too often anymore, but I always like tracking my runs when I did. I use to use the Nike running app, but that one always paused randomly during my run! Since switching to Map My Run, I haven’t run into this issue. I only use it to monitor time and distance, and it does the trick!

Confessions of a Diet Coke Binger

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday!

Today is my work Monday, and tomorrow is my work Friday, so I am a pretty happy employee right now!

Yesterday I told you I would be back in with a day in the life. I had yesterday off for Presidents Day and we already paid for daycare, so it was just Lola and I. She was thrilled.

For some strange reason I woke up at 4am and couldn’t go back to sleep. After tossing and turning for over an hour, I decided to get up, do some laundry and head to Safeway since I didn’t get groceries over the weekend. I was in and out of Safeway which was nice! Benefits to grocery shopping at 5:30am!

Back to the day in the life. I decided against it…I was so tired, binged on caffeine, ate some donuts, an oreo cookie shake, and had McDonalds. It was all delicious, but I was eating out of stress and sleep deprivation. So instead of documenting everything I was eating and doing, I decided to spend some time assessing my goals, fitness and diet related.

I have a serious caffeine addiction, Diet Coke to be exact. I wish I could blame it on being a new mom, but Olivia has been sleeping through the night since October. Every morning I go to McDonalds and get a large Diet Coke. I love fountain diets. So delicious. Anyways, back on track. I thought it would be a good idea to list out some goals of mine, some are short term, some long term.

Goal: Giving up caffeine: I dont need it, and I am very sensitive to it. It is expensive (I go to McDonalds and Starbucks), and what I get is not healthy (Diet Coke or skinny mocha).

Plan: Weaning. I thought about going cold turkey but I cant fathom the idea of caffeine withdrawals right now. Today I had one large diet coke, tomorrow I will have one large, Friday I will have a medium, Saturday I will have a medium, Sunday I will have a small, Monday-Thursday I will have a can, and Friday 2/27 I will be caffeine free.

Goal: Clean eating-ish. I have been eating terrible. Its funny, the Diet Bet started, and I just want to binge eat crap all day!

Plan: 30 day cleanse. No scientific reason to 30 days, just something I feel comfortable with. I really want to rid myself of all the fake chemicals and sugars I have been eating and drinking. When I say cleanse, I am not doing some crazy diet, just avoiding fake sugars, added sugars, and simple carbs. I actually do really well on low carb diets, so I think a majority of the time I will not be eating fruit or any type of carb, but I am not committing to this. We will see how it goes. I do plan to chew sugar free gum. I know this isn’t great but I am not willing to give this up. Maybe one day.

I do not feel the need to include any fitness goals. I love working out, and do not have a problem motivating myself to do this.

Well there you have it! I am disappointed I am where I am at right now, but excited to have a plan to make the changes I want to make.

Tomorrow

IMG_0063 Have you ever had that moment; your following a diet and things are going great. Your officially 3 full days in. Then you receive an invitation for brunch at your spouses coworker’s house. You get there and there are cheese eggs, pancakes, and bacon. Yummmm. Okay, you can’t be rude, you have one pancake, one slice of bacon, and a small serving of eggs. Its fine, it’s just one small meal that has appropriate portions. It’s fine. You’ll continue the day as normal and go back to eating healthy foods.

IMG_0067 Well unfortunately I did the opposite. We get home and I start preparing my husband’s lunches for the week which includes Trader Joes’s guilt free potato chips. I eat about 3 servings worth. I feel the guilt. I then decide I want frozen yogurt. I get frozen yogurt with a ridiculous amount of toppings. At the end of the day I feel sick from the sugar, and disappointed from my 3 day streak.

IMG_0069 I remind myself tomorrow is a new day. I put a quote on Instagram and reach out to my tone it up team members. I am so thankful to have them. I am new, so I don’t really know any of them, but I still feel so much support.

Moving forward with this blog I will be posting every piece of food that goes into my mouth and the workouts I complete. I have 3 weeks left with the Diet Bet, and want to detox off the sugar addiction I have! In addition to food and exercise other life happenings will be present. How could I not include my babies?!?
