Friday Fitness!

Hey everyone!! Happy Friday! I hope you have some exciting plans on your agenda! We don’t have too many plans, just dinner out tonight and tomorrow, and a few sweaty workouts! Speaking of sweating, this morning I completed Daily Burn’s Tabata POC. It was a good one. workoutAfter my workout, Olivia and I headed to the pool for week 2 of her swimming lessons. It is so much fun. Next week Patrick is going with me so we can get some water pictures and video. I can’t wait!!
IMG_0285Tomorrow instead of doing Body Pump (Patrick has a dentist appointment and I am not quite ready to put her in the gym’s daycare yet) I am going to complete this HIIT and this upper body workout. Its challenging and quick! You’ll need a pair of dumbbells to complete this workout.

Do each circuit of 3 exercises (12-15 reps) 2 times. Each exercise is linked to show you how to complete the workout. This workout takes about 15min to complete. Limit rest between exercises.
Good luck!

Chest Press (you can do this on the floor, a bench, or a ball-which is what I use)
Chest Fly

Reverse Back fly
Bent Over Dumbbell Row, Elbows In
Bent Over Row,

Elbows Out Bicep Curl (do both arms at the same time)
Inner Bicep (do both arms at the same time)
Hammer Curl (do both arms at the same time)

Tricep Overhead Press
Tricep Extension
Tricep Dip

Shoulder Press (I do this standing)
Shoulder Side Raise
Shoulder Upright Row

Dreaming of Ice Cream on the Elliptical

Good morning everyone!!

I hope your having a fabulous morning. Today is day 2 of my “cleanse”. Yesterday went well, im embarrassed to admit I had a caffeine headache because I only had one caffeinated beverage yesterday! Ha…and that is why I am doing this cleanse!!

My meals for yesterday included (not all pictured):

Large Diet Coke from McDonalds

Egg whites, lite mozzarella cheese, avocado, banana

100cal almonds, cheese stick, tangerines

Salad with chicken, avocado, and greek yogurt blue cheese dressing-its really good!

Cottage cheese, carrots, celery, hummus, another cheese stick & 100cal almonds (I was hungry after my workout!)

Egg whites, cheese, and a tablespoon of ketchup

And because she’s so cute, I had to include Olivia’s dinner of broccoli and sweet potato. =)

IMG_0400According to MyFitness Pal my stats were:

1387 Calories

54g (28%) Fat

97g (35%) Carbs

128g (37%) Protein

During my lunch break I went on the elliptical for 45min (I usually perfer HIIT or strength training but this is perfect for an at work workout). During this I watched Tuesday’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Taylor Swift was on. It was a good episode! The Tonight Show now has its own Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavor. It’s called “The Tonight Dough” and includes vanilla and caramel ice cream, Chocolate Chip cookie dough and peanut butter cookie dough, and I think chocolate chunks? Whatever it is, it sounds delicious!
IMG_0380IMG_0379Well that’s it for today. Have a great day! Today is a work day for me, and I plan on doing an elliptical workout again, with some strength training after.

See you guys tomorrow!

Confessions of a Diet Coke Binger

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday!

Today is my work Monday, and tomorrow is my work Friday, so I am a pretty happy employee right now!

Yesterday I told you I would be back in with a day in the life. I had yesterday off for Presidents Day and we already paid for daycare, so it was just Lola and I. She was thrilled.

For some strange reason I woke up at 4am and couldn’t go back to sleep. After tossing and turning for over an hour, I decided to get up, do some laundry and head to Safeway since I didn’t get groceries over the weekend. I was in and out of Safeway which was nice! Benefits to grocery shopping at 5:30am!

Back to the day in the life. I decided against it…I was so tired, binged on caffeine, ate some donuts, an oreo cookie shake, and had McDonalds. It was all delicious, but I was eating out of stress and sleep deprivation. So instead of documenting everything I was eating and doing, I decided to spend some time assessing my goals, fitness and diet related.

I have a serious caffeine addiction, Diet Coke to be exact. I wish I could blame it on being a new mom, but Olivia has been sleeping through the night since October. Every morning I go to McDonalds and get a large Diet Coke. I love fountain diets. So delicious. Anyways, back on track. I thought it would be a good idea to list out some goals of mine, some are short term, some long term.

Goal: Giving up caffeine: I dont need it, and I am very sensitive to it. It is expensive (I go to McDonalds and Starbucks), and what I get is not healthy (Diet Coke or skinny mocha).

Plan: Weaning. I thought about going cold turkey but I cant fathom the idea of caffeine withdrawals right now. Today I had one large diet coke, tomorrow I will have one large, Friday I will have a medium, Saturday I will have a medium, Sunday I will have a small, Monday-Thursday I will have a can, and Friday 2/27 I will be caffeine free.

Goal: Clean eating-ish. I have been eating terrible. Its funny, the Diet Bet started, and I just want to binge eat crap all day!

Plan: 30 day cleanse. No scientific reason to 30 days, just something I feel comfortable with. I really want to rid myself of all the fake chemicals and sugars I have been eating and drinking. When I say cleanse, I am not doing some crazy diet, just avoiding fake sugars, added sugars, and simple carbs. I actually do really well on low carb diets, so I think a majority of the time I will not be eating fruit or any type of carb, but I am not committing to this. We will see how it goes. I do plan to chew sugar free gum. I know this isn’t great but I am not willing to give this up. Maybe one day.

I do not feel the need to include any fitness goals. I love working out, and do not have a problem motivating myself to do this.

Well there you have it! I am disappointed I am where I am at right now, but excited to have a plan to make the changes I want to make.

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! I will check in tomorrow on day 2 of my “cleanse”. Wish me luck!!

I’ve Got My Toes In The Water…

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend, and if your like me, I hope you had a great Monday holiday!

My day started out with another Daily Burn workout (Cardio Sports Drill), and an upper body workout (I will be posting it Friday!!). I then quickly showered and Olivia and I met my sister in Los Gatos to head for Santa Cruz! It was over 70 degrees at the beach…absolutely amazing! It was Olivia’s first time and she loved it. I had so much fun! Having a baby makes everything that much better!
DSCF0923DSCF0929DSCF0938We spent most of the afternoon at the beach and then headed home. I had about 5 loads of laundry waiting for me…I swear its never ending! I also started half of my grocery shopping with a trip to target. How does my list of 8 things turn into this!?! Oh…Target, you always win.  I usually do my grocery shopping on Sundays but since I have Tuesday off (in lieu of the Monday holiday) I am taking it easy and will finish up my shopping today. TargetWell thats it for today. I had a pretty low-key weekend and Monday. I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday! See ya tomorrow with a peak into a day of my life =)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Good afternoon folks!
IMG_0298Hope your Valentine’s Day is off to a great start. We don’t really celebrate too much…normally we would eat a ton of candy and junk but since were doing the DietBet challenge were trying to stay healthy, so just the usual is on the agenda for today!

Yesterday was filled with lots of excitement and running around. I completed a few workouts in the morning, Daily Burn’s DB15 MMA & Metabolic Maximizer. It was a total of 45min. I like the variety with the Daily Burn workouts, but some of them feature really cheesy trainers, and I feel like they chat too much. I would rather a 30min workout be reduced to 20min of actual working out…rather than listen to some random person chat. Just my own opinion =) I do however love the workouts, I am definitely sore!
IMG_0278After my workout it was time to get ready for Olivia’s first swimming lesson!! It was SO MUCH FUN! The first lesson was just getting the babies acquainted to the water, they all ranged between 3-6 months old. It was so cute to see the reactions on all their faces. They loved it!
IMG_0294We ran a few more errands since I had a contact fitting at 1pm in the same area. We grabbed lunch a Chioplte (salad with pinto beans, fajita vegetables, pico, corn salsa, and guac).
IMG_0297IMG_0299Then it was off to my eye appointment. I have worn glasses all my life (since 4 years old). In high school I wore contact and then I go Lasik when I was 19 and again when I was 20 (for a touch up). Unfortunately it didn’t last and I am finding my vision to be fading more and more everyday. The last 2 years I have been wearing glasses, but I finally decided to transition back to contacts. I had a fitting when I was pregnant, but apparently due to hormones (during pregnancy and breastfeeding) it can make your eyes a little funny…dryer, vision changes, etc… I was fitted with a different contact and so far so good! It was so nice working out and seeing things clearly (i.e. the clock, my reflection in the mirror)! Haha…what a difference! I am hoping they work ok at work, sitting at a computer for 10+ hours is the true test!

After our errands, the rest of our day wasn’t too exciting. Ate some snacks, string cheese, raw nut mix, carrot sticks & hummus…and another coffee :/ IMG_0312IMG_0310After stuffing my face, I started some chores and then we went out to eat with some friends. I didn’t take any pictures but I had a salad with grilled chicken and a few glasses of wine =)

Hope your having a great Valentine’s Day! Talk to ya tomorrow!

The Never-ending Chores

Hello everyone!

I was finally successful at taking pictures of my day yesterday!
We started off our morning by fueling and stretching.IMG_0077
Then we were off for a 3.5mi run around the neighborhood. Going uphill with a stroller and dog is no joke! It was so beautiful out, we had a stormy weekend, but yesterday was clear and sunny. IMG_0088IMG_0086After we returned, we stopped at McDonalds for a diet coke (I am addicted and they are only a $1.09. One day I’ll quit the fountain again) and headed home.IMG_0091(yes my diet coke deserves a picture)

I rounded off my morning workout with two rounds each of Sea Shells and Sit Ups’ Rumps & Stumps and Tums & Guns month challenge.

Monday’s are usually my day to finish up chores before I head into work on Tuesday. I finished up our laundry while dancing with Olivia and watching Nashville.

IMG_0158After that I took Olivia’s 6 month pictures (how is she already half a year?!?) and ate a quick lunch.
IMG_0160IMG_0131IMG_0154Lunch consisted of 1/2c Trader Joes lite chicken salad, a hard boiled egg, two hard boiled egg whites, a tablespoon of mayo and some celery. I also ate 1/4c of raw mixed nuts (not pictured).
IMG_0162After Olivia’s nap I went through a pile of swim suits (she starts swimming lessons this Friday). None of them fit!! She is pretty long, so a one piece is out of the question. I headed to Target and got the cutest swim suit! It will make its debut on Friday =).

I hope your Monday was great! The rest of my day included dinner, a 15min kickboxing and 20min Pilates workout from Daily Burn and bedtime. It is crazy how the day flys by with a baby!!
